Ke Aloha stands for "With Love."

With love, the Hawaiian people add beauty to everything they do. Complimenting and amplifying the beauty surrounding them on the islands. They adorn themselves with beautiful hand-strung leis and the bold geometric shapes of KΔ€KAU (Hawaiian tattooing). Their music and graceful powerful hula dancers sweep you away into a sea of beauty and relaxation. Missionaries brought the art of traditional quilt making to the islands teaching it to the native women. It's no wonder that my ancestors quickly adapted it to reflect their local flora, fauna, and traditions. Adding even more beauty to the islands and their homes.

Kapa- The Art of Hawaiian Quilting

My Legacy Begins

Like my Great-Grandmother, Hannah KΒ΄umililani Cummings Baker, I strongly desire to teach and share the gift of quilting. In my family, I now carry on the tradition of teaching Kapa and its legacy. The kapa classes I teach are meant to inspire and encourage you in your creative-making journey. I am here to help you bloom into the creative artist you are meant to be while bringing a little piece of the islands to you and your home.

A Hawaiian Quilt Legacy

It is a beautiful gift to have a rich and deep family legacy in quilting and making. My aunt Eileen is an excellent knitter, spinner, weaver, and instructor. She wrote a great article about our Kapa legacy and the hero that my great-grandmother was to the quilting community on the islands.
